Guess Who Had a Winning Week!

Posted at September 26, 2005 04:57 AM in General Discussions , by Wiggie.

It's been like two weeks since I've written, so there's a lot of updating to get to. The week that ended on the 18th fell in line with the previous ones as far as the being crappy is concerned. However, thanks to a brilliant football wager I pretty much broke even for the week. Thank you, UCLA. Don't worry, I won't be doing that much, if at all from now on, but it was pretty much a sure thing, so I went there. Girlfriend.

I mostly played the $100 NL 6-max tables that week and mostly lost. I just don't think I'm aggressive enough to play those tables. For the most part, the players there weren't too bad, which kind of surprised me. I hardly saw any super-donkish moves, and it seemed like everyone was basically playing at the same level. I'm pretty sure I was playing way too tight to make any money at those games. I'm not comfortable with the style you have to play to win shorthanded, so I think I'm going to stay away from that. I saw one guy that was completely tearing up the table. It was incredible. He was in pretty much every hand, but he was able to read when people were weak and bet them out. He seemed to sense when he was being trapped and kept himself out of trouble. I didn't stay around long after he showed up because he would have destroyed me, but it was amazing to watch.

This past week, once I figured out that the 6-max tables weren't for me, I decided to play some sit-and-goes, (hereafter referred to as SNGs) thinking maybe that would be where I would make my fortune. Come to find out that wasn't where I made my fortune. The thing about SNGs is that if you play in a few without making the money, then you look at your bankroll, you're often surprised. Surprised and alone, sleeping in some forlorn alley with the night your only companion. The tattered rags you wear doing nothing to assuage the chill that envelops your body. Pangs of hunger nagging at you, the only reminder that you're still alive, if you can call this a life. But yeah, it sucked.

I played a little more 6-max just to make sure I was sick of it, then I took about half my bankroll and put it back into Pacific. I started playing there again on Friday, and while I stick to my guns about the software sucking, the players are like drunk monkeys randomly clicking and typing just to see what it does. Since Friday, I had one losing session, then I won five times in a row playing $100 NL like I did before. After being down about $90 for the week, I made about $370 at Pacific. So it looks like that's what I'll be doing for now. I'm going to have to learn to deal with my losing streaks better, though. After my second week, which was admittedly brutal, I let myself get into a serious funk, where I was expecting to lose, which kept me from playing my best, and basically made me a wreck. If I can get beyond that, and keep myself from making the stupid mistakes I make every so often, I think I can do okay.

That's it for now, but I'm going to try to write more often in the future. I know how you people get all excited when I write. Especially the ladies. Especially the hot ones.

This is not so much a comment about poker or your life, but more about how I love the comment about the "drunk monkeys", and of course the comment about the "hot ones". Pretty much this is what I heard verbatim in my mind "blah, blah, blah, -DRUNK MONKEYS! giggle, giggle" (thats me giggling in my own mind) "blah, blah, blah, ESPECIALLY THE HOT ONES!".
Nah, just kidding. It was an entertaining article. Regal diction, my friend.
